Those domains have been dropped and are currently available for registration again, some of them for premium prices.

All of them have been dropped by the original buyers.
Most have been snapped by new registrants for the normal registration fee.

a.tel is a good domain name, of course.
Single-digit .tel domains were never available for registration and are all owned by Telnic / Telnames.
Interesting to see that Telnames is actively selling domains through Sedo.
Hence, Telnic itself is almost the only seller of a valuable .tel domain until now.

You can buy all .tel domains from c.tel to z.tel and 1.tel to 9.tel for $5,500 each at Sedo. Only b.tel has a price of $6,500.

No website for a.tel exists and the buyer isn't known; the Whois is private.

I think it would be not impossible if it was Telnic/Telnames itself who "bought" this name.

They could did this for "marketing" purposes.

Perhaps, many of us still remember how Telnic once liked to buy various "awards for the best technology" just for making impression to possible customers. False sales/purchases of TELs could be from the the same kind of tricks.

That could be, but on the other hand are $5,500 only peanuts for a domain sale:
http://www.tel.community/t4618-highest-prices-for-ntld-sales
It's a bad sign that it's not possible to sell such a premium domain for a reasonable price.

So how do I find out how much my domain is really worth?   Taxes.tel

I'm pretty sure it's considered a Premium Name.  I would like to sell it.
I have it listed on Sedo, but Sedo doesn't take .tel in their auctions.

I would be grateful for any help.

@Lulu

You can use these domain appraisal tools that estimate the following value for your domain taxes.tel:
Godaddy: $1,272
Estibot: $400

At Sedo you can start a direct auction for a fee of $59 here:
https://sedo.com/sell-domains/domain-auction/

But don't expect to find any buyers, because it's almonst impossible to sell a .tel.

Expert,

Thanks for your reply.  I was disappointed to hear that it's almost impossible to sell a .tel name.
I have been renewing my Taxes.tel name for years and had hoped it was valuable.

I guess if I don't have a business to use my .tel, there is no longer any point in having it.  :(

At the moment, I can't imagine a purpose for a .tel domain, either.

Expert,

I had always imagined that a CPA or Tax Preparer would love to have Taxes.tel as their phone number.
I know if I was in one of those professions, I would want the number.
I can't understand how there is no market for it.

@Lulu

A serious business wouldn't register a .tel, because nobody beside a few .tel enthusiats know about this domain extension.
At least, the domain should represent your business.
For this, you should rather register http://public.accountant or http://accountant.tax.
If an accountant wants to be reachable by phone, .tel wouldn't be a bad choice. But unfortunately the public doesn't know .tel.
People would be confused if the accountant has the domain taxes.tel, because they just don't know this exotic domain extension.
Everything would be different if .tel had a small recognition (which is not the case).

Expert,

This is very sad.  .Tel has been around for a lot of years.
You would think, by now, it would have more recognition than it does.
Management has not done a good job of advertising, if people are not aware it exists.

The management had a completely wrong focus with the marketing measures implemented.
In the early years, business development focused on collecting awards and gaining a foothold in the domain industry.
Later, with the shift of marketing to Telnames, many fairs in the UK were visited.
All of these measures have been ineffective.

What has been totally forgotten till today is, firstly, to develop a contemporary product (based on .tel) and second, to bring this closer to the end user.
With this, the former collaboration with yellow pages would have been successful. These are now all frozen.

Frank W.

Why has no one complained to management?
How is it that everyone is satisfied to go along this way without having .tel recognized by the domain industry?

I have not participated before, as I didn't know this community existed.  I just bought one .tel name many years ago along with other domain extensions.  I see now, that the money I spent on buying and renewing my .tel name has been wasted.

Is there something I'm not understanding?  Otherwise, how can everyone let this .tel anonymity go on year after year?

The .tel community has fought many years against the inactivity and laziness at Telnames.

You will find a lot of examples here on this forum. Here is only one example: http://www.tel.community/t559-icann-complaint-against-telnames

Telnames didn't care at all. Telnames is the most demotivated company I can think of.

This is unbelievable!  "Demotivated" company is not strong enough for Telnames.
I never heard of such a thing.
Who pays the salary of the President of the company?
How is this company still in existence?

It sounds like a company deliberately trying to fail.
I'm so shocked, I have no words.

.tel had 333,000 registered domains once. Only 78,000 are left:

Telnames is doing a great job with trying to destroy .tel.
