A 4K drop overnight !

Post by mikeseaton on Sat 15 Dec 2012, 8:50 am

I checked http://www.dottel.net yesterday and the total registration figure was 244,nnn (I didn't note the last 3 digits) - today it is 240,469 - a drop of 4K overnight !

Telnic/Telnames we can't carry on like this !

The problem is that although Telnames registrations are showing a fairly consistent figure day after day (thanks no doubt to the TV advertising, not sure how long this will continue) these new registrations are being dwarfed by the continual dropping of the original Telnic subdomain .tels !

So how will any internet company or Telco be persuaded that .tel is "going places" and is worth becoming involved with when the total .tel registrations are still showing a continuous decline ?

They won't - simple as that !

If I controlled Telnic/Telnames I would do the following immediately:

1. Stop treating the internet business as a 5 day a week operation - it isn't - it's a 7 day a week 24 hours a day operation that needs office staffing to reflect this.

2. Incentivise staff with partial payment of their remuneration package being in company shares - how many millionaires (due to their staff share scheme) do Microsoft have working for them - several thousand I believe !

3. Realise that there needs to be a way found immediately to get .tel registrants of the original Telnic subdomain format over to the new Telnames format.

4. Realise that NO existing TLD has managed to succeed without the involvement of registrars - why should .tel be any different - IMO many registrars will quit .tel as things stand in the next 12 months as they get fed up with Telnic/Telnames competing with them via a "direct sell" of the Telnames template.

5. Get the worldwide marketing and branding of .tel achieved by the "pay for results" offered by 100,000+ affiliates at http://www.CJ.com and http://www.TradeDoubler.com

1000+ new gTLDs are about to arrive and change the internet forever - how much time do Telnic/Telnames think they have left to establish the .tel extension ?

I would do for Telnic TELs a possibility to upload ads, images and videos directly from Telhosting panel. Also I would improve design of current templates and add new, according to requirements of Telnic customers.

In any case, when Telnic shareholders will decide to sell Telnic Ltd, it would be better to have a ready for use, customer friendly panel (not its current beta-version).

Telnic, listen for your customers needs, because nobody but they give you money. Obstinacy always leads to ruin.

A German domainer didnt renew his UNDEVELOPED domains. Why worry? More good names for German businesses.

Are the discount coupons that we all know about not enough? In about 4months time it will be almost 1 year that those coupons have been on offer.

This German domainer was very active in developing his domains.
He registered all possible German domain keywords from all industry sectors and due to the missing support from Telnic he gave up his business he invested a seven digits amount in before.
Is it really a good sign if .tel is losing the most serious businessmen, because theoretically someday not existing prospects could become interested in the domains dropped before?
